Kelly Elise Ulmer
LPC, CEDS-S

Hi, I'm Kelly! I am the owner of Bloom Counseling & Nutrition where I also serve as a therapist and clinical director.  I received my Master of Education degree and Specialist in Education degree with a concentration in mental health counseling from the University of Florida Counselor Education program. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Colorado and Michigan, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, and a Clinical Mental Health Counselor in Utah.

I have years of experience specializing in the treatment of eating disorders and other concerns related to one’s relationship with food, body image, and holistic health. I am a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist - Supervisor as well as a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor.

Specialties & Approaches

As many of the clients I work with have comorbid trauma and attachment injuries, in addition to training in the treatment of eating disorders, I have also pursued training in treating trauma, PTSD, complex trauma, attachment trauma, and developmental injury. I am trained as a level 2 clinician in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and a level 1 clinician in Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. These trainings have greatly influenced the eclectic, integrative, and collaborative approach I bring to the treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring trauma and developmental injury.

Additionally, I believe in approaching client needs from a holistic and individualized approach. No two clients are going to benefit from the exact same therapeutic approach, and therefore, I utilize a variety of integrative modalities and techniques to support my client's nuanced and unique needs and recovery journey. In addition to the above training and specialty in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and IFS, my therapeutic approach is also rooted in Systemic Therapy, Existential Theory, Mindfulness-based approaches, ACT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, ERP, & Family-Based Treatment. My practice as a healthcare professional is grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size and the causes of social justice. I aim to support and empower clients of all backgrounds as an antiracist, LGBTQ+ ally, and fat-positive clinician.

Supervision for Certified Eating Disorder Specialist (CEDS)

As a Certified Eating Disorder Specialist Supervisor, I provide supervision to those seeking to complete the iaedp advanced certification program, which promotes excellence in competency assessment for professionals in the eating disorders field. My supervision services focused on eating disorder treatment are grounded in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES) and fat liberation. In addition to case consultation and therapist support, our supervision will cover topics related to diagnostic nuances, screening for eating disorder severity, forming a comprehensive treatment team, assessing need for higher level of care and medical stability, body image support, nutrition support, relapse prevention, and more.

Supervision for Licensed Professional Counselor Candidates (LPCC)

I have completed six hours of clinical supervision training through the Colorado Counseling Association. This training satisfies the supervisor qualification for LPCCs set forth in Section 1.7, D, 3 of the Licensed Professional Counselor Examiners Rules and Regulations. This training program includes all of the following required content areas for clinical supervision: Roles & Functions, Models & Methods in Supervision Supervisory Relationship Issues, Cultural Issues in supervision, Group Supervision, Legal and Ethical Issues, and Evaluation of supervisee competency and the supervision process. My supervision experience includes several years of both clinical and administrative supervision within various community practices.

Other Supervision Specialties

(IE, ED, SP, IFS)

IFS is an evidence-based model of psychotherapy that helps individuals heal by connecting with their protective and wounded inner parts. Our inner parts function like members of a family, and among these parts, we have a core Self that inherently knows how to heal. IFS aims to help individuals access their core Self and come to understand and heal their wounded parts.
