Werris is a graduate-level intern currently working toward a Master of Social Work at Colorado State University. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Writing for Screen & Television, she understands that the stories we tell ourselves and others have a powerful influence on our worldview, which means creativity is vital to the construction of an authentic, unshackled existence.

Werris’s personal experiences with body image struggles and body-focused repetitive behaviors have taught her to honor the many factors that contribute to healing: self-determination, vulnerability, and cultivating community, to name just a few. She is deeply committed to the eradication of shame, values body neutrality, and believes we each have the right to live life without apology. She embraces this journey as a lifelong endeavor and views it as a privilege.

As a woman of color with an immigrant parent, Werris is passionate about intersectionality and the validation of marginalized experiences. She believes approaching healing through a social justice lens is beneficial to all participants in the therapeutic process and is crucial to creating a more inclusive culture. In her spare time, Werris can be found playing with her cat, crafting, enjoying the outdoors, and writing.
My Therapeutic Lens
-
Put simply, comfort is overrated. To move forward in our healing, we must be willing to confront our own discomfort, and it is my responsibility as a therapist to provide a safe space for this challenging—but highly rewarding—work.

-
I believe radical acceptance is a powerful tool that can eradicate shame and strengthen empathy toward ourselves and others.

-
I am passionate about using existential therapy techniques to uncover true values, which can help us create meaning and live unapologetically.

-
Each person is in the driver’s seat of their own life. The therapeutic process must honor the client’s agency and needs, empowering them to move toward living in alignment with their values.
